How to Choose the Right Pet Memorial Urn Size
Learn how to choose the right size based on your pet’s weight, what to do if you are unsure, and when sizing up makes sense.
The easiest way to choose
The most reliable way to choose your urn size is based on your pet’s weight before passing.
This helps you choose a memorial urn that is more suitable for ashes and keepsake use, while also giving you a better sense of the overall scale of the piece in your home.
Available sizes
We currently offer four sizes for different pet weights and capacity needs.
- M: 500 ml, suitable for pets up to 16.5 kg / 36 lbs; 9 cm diameter × 15.5 cm high; lid 5.5 cm
- L: 1000 ml, suitable for pets up to 25 kg / 55 lbs; 10.5 cm diameter × 21 cm high; lid 7 cm
- XL: 1300 ml, suitable for pets up to 35 kg / 77 lbs; 12.5 cm diameter × 24 cm high; lid 8 cm
- XXL: 1700 ml, suitable for pets up to 50 kg / 110 lbs; 13 cm diameter × 28 cm high; lid 10 cm
- Measurements are taken by hand and may vary by 1–2 cm
What if I am not sure which size to choose?
If you are not sure or your pet is near a listed weight limit, we recommend choosing one size up. Ash volume can vary by pet and cremation method.
For dogs and cats, choose by weight and capacity. Small non-cat/dog pets such as rabbits, birds, and hamsters require XL or larger. Large or detailed custom pet shapes require XXL so there is enough clay for the shape and details.
Why sizing matters
The right size matters for both practical and emotional reasons. Practically, it helps make sure the memorial can serve the purpose you need. Emotionally, it helps the piece feel appropriate and balanced in your home.
Can the urn be used for keepsakes too?
Yes. In addition to ashes, some customers use the urn to hold small keepsakes such as fur clippings, collar tags, or a small memorial note.
If you plan to keep extra items inside, choosing one size up may also feel more comfortable.
